I Hunt Killers (Jasper Dent, #1)I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. Anything about serial killers isn’t something I gravitate toward. But Lyga mixes it up here. The protagonist is a 17 year-old son of a notorious serial killer.

Can anyone say “Awesome concept!”?

Jasper “Jazz” Dent is a teenager with a troubled past. Okay, his past was a nightmare. Not only is his father a total whack job with triple digit stats, he trained his only son to take over the family business. Now Jazz constantly wonders if he can resist the temptation to take up where his old man left off.

The appearance of a new serial killer in his small town sets Jazz off on a personal mission to catch the guy himself. Along with his hemophiliac, and hilarious best friend.

Lyga sets it up so that it sounds quite plausible that a 17 year old boy would get involved in the hunt for a serial killer. After all, he learned from the best. I loved this book and will definitely read the next one in the series.

Just about everything I believe has been shaped by the written word. But books don't force a belief; they stir the imagination so that you, the reader, eventually draw your own conclusions. We grow richer in spirit when we read, deeper in our understanding of the universe and our role in it. That's why I read. That's why I write. To offer you a bit of myself. Come along on my journey, won't you? There's plenty of room.
