My Indy Journey – Day 29

Almost through the first month! And progress has been great. I hit a milestone tonight–half way through my first draft of Now I Knew You. Probably more, actually, since it looks like my word count total will come in around 72K instead of 80K. So here's today's stats: Now I Knew You: 1,900 words written. 40,020 words total! Yay me! Camp Dogs: Fast edited through scene 87 of 93. Scorpion Summer: Character sheets for minor characters. Another good day! Soon I'll have to decide what to get on the schedule after Scorpion Summer. I'm thinking it's time to start the …

Well the back is feeling better today, though I may have to lay down to do my editing. Or maybe I'll just skip it and read. Here's the stats: Now I Knew You: 1,440 words written. 38,100 words total. Two days ahead of schedule! Scorpion Summer: I just read Randy Ingermanson's new book about the Snowflake Method. I've read about it before but never really put it to use. I write in a similar fashion, so I gave it another look with the new book (which I highly recommend…only $2.99). I was thus inspired to layout a Microsoft OneNote …

My Indy Journey – Day 27

Ugh. Not a good weekend. I must have pulled some back muscles early this week while unpacking from our camping trip. Like most back pain, I didn’t know I’d hurt myself for a few days. But after a workout on Tuesday and roto-tilling the garden on Wednesday, things got progressively worse. I’m still in a lot of pain but determined to get my writing done. At least I can sit without a lot of pain. Hopefully, I’ll be better tomorrow. So here are the weekend stats: Now I Knew You: 6,000 words written. 36,600 total. I’m past my mid-point, …

Now I Knew You: 1,500 words written. 33,780 words to date. Camp Dogs: Fast edited through scene 74 of 93. Scorpion Summer: Great plotting today. I discovered that the first episodes of Jacques Cousteau's Undersea Adventures also aired in 1968. I will be tying that into the story and have already made several scene cards. I loved these shows and even went to see a lecture in given by the great man in Norfolk when I was around 12 years old. All the episodes are available on YouTube. Don't you love how easy it is to research these …

My Indy Journey – Day 23

Back in the swing of things! And on schedule. I’m finding it easy to crank out a scene when I’ve got a few lines to outline it already in place. It gives me enough creative freedom to let the story flow and enough guideline to stay on track. If you wanna write a book every two months, you don’t have time to write yourself into a corner and back your way out. So here’s today’s stats: Now I Knew You: 1,470 words written. 32,200 words total. Camp Dogs: Fast edited to scene 71 of 93. I just edited plot …

A good day today! Here’s the stats: Now I Knew You: 1,470 words written. 30,700 total. Camp Dogs: Fast edit to scene 65 of 93. Received Gina’s crits for first 8 scenes. She’s brutal, but nothing I can’t fix. Scorpion Summer: Great plotting today. Focused on my hero’s mom and her backstory. Her character arch will fit smoothly with my hero’s. Worked out some details on the newsletter serial with Gina. We’re real excited about this. It should be a blast. And a fantastic story. Look for episode 1 right after Labor Day. Sign up for the newsletter up there …
