My Indy Journey – Day 21

Yes, I’m a loser. My camping interfered with by blog posting more than I expected. Actually, I should keep a blog journal of our camping. Let’s get that on the to-do list. I did get some writing done. Not as much as I would have liked. We had both our kids, now 18 and 20, along, and my parents in the next site. So it was a busy weekend. Still, I managed to hit 29,000 words in Now I Knew You.  I need to be at 40k by the end of July, so that’s 11,000 words in 10 days. 1,100 …

My Indy Journey – Day 16 Stats

Today is packing day for our Up North camping trip over the next four days. After some caulking of the trailer roof (it’s important that the rain remain outside), filling the water tank, and going out for a quick dinner, I hit the keys after 8pm and managed to squeeze out my daily word count. Today’s stats: Now I Knew You: 1430 words written. 24,800 words total. That’s all I got done today. No problem. Camping is a great time for editing and plotting. I’ll get ahead this weekend. Speaking of…if I don’t have good internet, I’ll catch up …

My Indy Journey – Day 15 Stats

Okay. I’m at the one-quarter mark of this two month period. Remember, the goal is to write a first draft in two months. One book will get two months of plotting, two months of drafting, and two months of editing. By working three books at a time in rotation, I should be able to produce six novels in a year. That’s the theory! So today’s stats: Drafting Now I Knew You: 1400 words written. 23,300 words total (of 80,000 target) Editing Camp Dogs: Through scene 56 of 93. Will complete my edit by July 31st, then send off to the pro editor. Plotting Scorpion …

I have this fantasy–and, as always, don’t tell my wife I wrote this–and it involves me, my Macbook, a trailer, my wife, and about a million square miles of unexplored (by me) territory. It’s the impossible dream. My mobile office on wheels would have most of the comforts of home. Which, to me, means a refrigerator and a bed. It would have an electric awning, maybe the cool outside kitchenette, and, oh, I don’t know…USB ports every two feet or so. And she must be wireless internet ready. What would I do with this dream trailer? Well, we’d leave the …

My Indy Journey – Day 14 stats

Yes, I’m a slacker. I didn’t post my progress this weekend at all. I took Friday off. One does need a date night from time to time. Which, actually, turned into deck furniture shopping with my wife. After scoring a great deal at Meijer’s (it’s a great big grocery\clothing\tools\deck furniture store in Michigan), I assembled my new furniture and enjoyed it for the rest of the evening. On Saturday, I grabbed our adjustable table out of the trailer and set myself up to write out on the deck. So here’s the stats to date: Now I Knew You: 1500 words …

My Indy Journey – Day 10

Okay, I’m home again. Writing on the road wasn’t easy, but I think I pulled it off. Though I’d prefer not to travel with both my work PC and and Macbook. Not to mention Ipad, Kindle, iPhone (personal), Droid phone (work). It’s amazing I make it through airport security at all. Today we didn’t have to be at our customer until 9am. So, being set in my ways, I popped wide awake at 6am. Instead of lolling around hoping to fall back asleep, I hit the keyboard. Okay, I lolled for ten minutes before hitting the keyboard. Here are today’s …
